Amulet by Kazu Kibuishi

Reviewed by Miss Dewey at Orenda

Four paw prints. Miss Dewey wants you to know, up front, that you won't get a conclusion to the story by reading this book. It's only Book One: The Stonekeeper. The amulet is a stone with magical powers, and is the only weapon young Em is given in order to retrieve her captured mother. Amulet is a graphic novel with dark, dark artwork and enough scary creatures to keep Miss Dewey, and most older readers at the edge of their seats. If you're the type of reader who enjoys thriller chiller stories...and cute pink rabbits...Amulet won't disappoint. If, like Miss Dewey, you prefer American Girl adventures, this may not be the book for you.
